Account Tags - Multiple Trading Accounts
Account tags in Tradervue are used to separate trades from different trading accounts and to control how new trade executions are merged with existing trades. This feature requires a Silver or Gold subscription.
Default Behavior
By default, Tradervue allows only one open position in any underlying symbol. When a new execution for that symbol is imported, it will be applied to the existing open trade. However, this may not be ideal in cases such as:
- Multiple Trading Accounts: If you trade the same symbol in different accounts (e.g., long-term in one account, intraday in another), Tradervue would normally merge these into one trade.
- Mixed Long-Term and Short-Term Positions: If you hold both long-term and short-term positions in a single account, Tradervue would merge these into one trade.
Using Account Tags
Account tags help you manage trades from multiple accounts by keeping them separate. Here’s how they work:
- Assigning Account Tags:
- During import, click on the "Account Tag" box.
- Enter a tag name for the specific account (e.g., "swing") and press Enter to save.
- Import as usual, ensuring to use the "account tag" field. You can also apply normal tags, but account tags specifically change how trades are merged.
- Consistent Use: Always use account tags consistently across all imports if managing multiple accounts.
- Import Behavior with Account Tags:
- Without an account tag: The system merges new executions with existing trades in the same symbol.
- With an account tag: The system only merges new executions with trades that have the same account tag.
Using account tags allows Tradervue to maintain separate positions in the same symbol across different accounts.
